Half off at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens on Saturday Posted: 03 Aug 2012 04:12 AM PDT Get half-off admission at Bonnet House Museum and Gardens on the first and third Saturdays of each month through September. The Family Fun Days promotion offers $10 admission for adults, $9 for seniors, and children 12 and younger are free. Tropical tranquility abounds at Bonnet House, the historic 35-acre estate built by of Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett on a secluded spot just off Fort Lauderdale beach. Spend a leisurely day wandering the grand grounds and estate. Swans glide across the lily pond and manatees occasionally drift into the Boathouse Canal. Spy wild Costa Rican squirrel monkeys swing in the trees above Peaches, the Moluccan cockatoo perched outside the gift shop. Enjoy Mrs. Bartlett's spectacular orchids, one of the largest collections in the Southeast. On the fascinating house tour, get up-close looks at the artwork of both Frederic and Evelyn. The $2 golf-cart tour is also a fun way to see the property. The site and home, built in 1920, was donated by Mrs. Bartlett to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation in 1983. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the home is a true South Florida treasure. Bonnet House is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays at 900 N.
