Central and South Florida office suppy stores are having free teacher appreciation events on Saturday and Aug. 11. OfficeMax: Saturday and Sunday's event during regular store hourse coincides with Florida's tax holiday. Teachers will get a free reusable tote and save 25 percent off everything that fits in it, as well as a coupon book that offers savings throug the school year. There will be coupons that are Teachers must be a MaxPerk Rewards for Teachers member, which is free to join. Staples: 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 11. The first 100 teachers to visit office supply stores will received free a thank you gift bag filled with goodies and coupons. Office Depot: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Aug. 11 features breakfast, 20 percent instant discounts of up to $20 and a free tote filled with products. You have to be a Star Teacher Member, which is free to join. More than 90 percent of teachers spend hundreds of dollars of their own money on classroom materials each year, according to the National Education Association.
