Note: the more creative, unique, and well-written your post, the more chance it will have of being posted. Target just launched an app for their Cartwheel e-Coupon Program. Here are more details from their website: In May, Target introduced Cartwheel—a digital savings program currently in beta—and encouraged guests to provide feedback. Guests clamored for a Cartwheel app for Android and iOS (Apple) smartphones, and the free app is now available for download at GooglePlay and the Apple App Store, giving you better access to all the great Cartwheel deals when you're shopping at a Target store. The app enhances the overall Cartwheel experience. With faster loading, crisper product images and better browsing, you'll find exactly what you're looking for more quickly and discover new products more easily. Better yet? Voice-activated search can help you out when your hands are full! My friend, Ruth, emailed me last night with the following. I thought some of you would be encouraged by reading it so I asked her permission to share it here: Last night, someone stole the catalytic converter off my car. Apparently they’ve got some kind of precious metal in them, so thieves use a saw to cut them off people’s car super quickly–they got 4 in our apt complex. I went through the process of filing a police report, insurance claim, and driving the car over to the repair shop. As we were driving home, David (my husband) said something like, “Well, at least we have our emergency fund and this won’t make much of a dent in it.” And I realized that in all the stress of those hours, I hadn’t worried once about how we were going to pay for the repair. The power of being mostly-debt free (we just have a small student loan left to pay off)! -Ruth Groupon is offering a Fandango movie ticket for just $6 today. You’ll want to make sure your local theaters accept tickets from Fandango.com before purchasing. Not all areas and theaters do. - Expires Nov 30, 2013
- Limit 1/person. Online redemption only at Fandango.com or on Fandango mobile app.
(Note: The link in this post is my referral link. Read my disclosure policy here.) So, I saw this recipe on Pinterest and immediately knew I wanted to try it. But I took awhile to get around to it. However, the other day, my friend Angie asked me if I’d tried it yet. When I told her that I hadn’t, she told me that I must, must try it as soon as possible. I’ve never known Angie to steer me wrong, so I made it a priority. And I’m so very glad I did. Folks, these bars are the bomb. What’s even more amazing is that they are packed with nutritional goodness. There’s only one problem: it’s near impossible to eat just one. So if you’re trying to watch your calories, you might just skip over this post. But for the rest of you, please do yourself favor and run to your kitchen and make these. You can thank me later. Best Ever Chocolate Oatmeal No-Bake Bars - 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup coconut oil (you could also substitute butter)
- 2 cups old fashioned oats
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts, raisins, or dried cranberries
- 1 1/4 cups dark chocolate chips (or regular semi-sweet chocolate chips, if you prefer)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Melt the peanut butter, honey, and coconut oil over medium-low heat in a saucepan on the stove. {Watch this closely. Mine started to burn!} Remove from heat once it’s melted together and add in the oats, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, nuts/raisins, and vanilla. Stir together until the chocolate is completely melted. Pour into a greased 9×13 pan and cool in the fridge. If you’d like thicker bars, you can pour the mixture into a smaller pan. When the mixture is hardened, cut into bars and eat. Store in the refrigerator or freezer. Recipe adapted slightly from I Hear Exercise Will Kill You. Every week in 2013, I'll be sharing a different way you can save $100 this year. If you do all of these things, you'll be able to save over $5,000 this year alone! Many of these things will likely be things you're already doing, but hopefully all of you will pick up at least a few new ideas or some inspiration from this series. Coupons are a great way to save a lot of money on your grocery bill, but they can be hard to keep up with. Clipping, sorting, and organizing coupons takes time — time that you might not feel you have right now. Well, don’t despair! I have a very simple tip for you today to help be able to use coupons even if you don’t want to mess with buying the newspaper, clipping the coupons, and keeping them all organized. Enter, the coupon database. This is a database of all printable and other coupons currently available. You can access the coupon database at the top of this blog under the “Coupons” header. You can search for any brand name or item name. For instance, you can search for bread and it will pull up all bread coupons available. Or, you can search for a specific brand name, such as “Nature’s Own bread” and will only pull up the coupons available for Nature’s Own bread (if there are any available). The thing I love best is that you can search by coupon type. If don’t get the newspaper or any magazines, you can just search only the printable coupons instead of having to wade through all coupons currently available. Since I often go for long stretches without subscribing to the newspaper (I only purchase a subscription when I can get a really great deal on a subscription), I especially like this option. Save Money on Groceries in Less Than 10 Minutes Each Week The coupon database is one of the most effective and efficient ways to save money on groceries. Just plan your menu and grocery list and then, before heading to the store, search the coupon database for items you’re already planning to buy. In less than 10 minutes, you can print coupons for what you were already going to buy and easily save at least $5 for 10 minutes’ of effort (or less!). If you have time, also check the deals at your local stores on your favorite local blog site. These two things can take you less than 15 minutes total and can save you at least $10 per week on your grocery bill. That’s the equivalent of saving $40 per hour — and it’s tax free money! Even if you don’t have time to spend on extensive couponing, you can still save money by using coupons. Best of all, when you print coupons for things you were already planning to buy, you know that your time was well spent since you’re not chasing down deals on things you may not end up using!
