Teach Them Diligently celebrates the focus of Christian families – that is, the discipleship of children to glorify God. More than simply a convention about home education, they purposefully develop the themes of missions, discipleship, and Christian parenting in addition to the traditional academic “how-to’s”. In addition to amazing speakers, you will also find a large exhibit hall with some of the best prices available on the resources you need. Check out the event closest to you to find out all that you can expect to experience at Teach Them Diligently!

What do you do when you try a new recipe and nobody likes it? Do you eat it until it’s gone anyway, and just don’t make it again? Do you throw it out after tasting a few bites? Offer it to someone else?
As far as I know, food pantries don’t accept home-cooked foods, and we don’t have nearby family to pass things to, either. In the past month, I had to toss a pan full of side pork we didn’t like, and a sheet full of pumpkin granola nobody liked.
I usually try 2-3 new recipes each month, and at least one of them is usually a dud, despite my best efforts to find recipes that only include ingredients that we like. After a while, tossing out all that food can be costly. So what to do? -Jessica

For years, people have been writing in to rave about Norwex. Mind you, most of these were not people who were selling Norwex, they were just people who had purchased the product and loved it. After trying the products myself, I understood why everyone is so excited about Norwex!
What's so special about Norwex? Well, for one, it eliminates the needs for dozens of cleaning products. You can clean just about anything and everything with one microfiber cloth and water. This saves you money — especially if you're investing in expensive all-natural cleaners — and it simplifies things.
Secondly, Norwex products clean really, really well. How do I know? Well, because I've been using them religiously for the past year and I've seen the results firsthand.
For example, someone in our family spilled a quite a bit of liquid Mary Kay foundation in the front seat of our car (yes, don't ask — but if you have kids, you probably understand how crazy things like that happen sometimes! ). Jesse and I were trying to scrub it up with rags — and it was taking a ton of elbow grease with little to show for the effort.
Finally, we broke out the Norwex cloth. We were shocked at the difference it made! Even Jesse kept commenting, "Where did you get this thing? It's amazing!" Within minutes, the front seat of the car looked good as new. Without Norwex, we'd probably still be trying to scrub up the make up spill.
Not only do Norwex products clean well, but they make cleaning fun. It's just plain cool to clean with water and have it work so well. And the polishing cloth leaves everything sparkling. In fact, you get a little addicted to the sparkling results… and then you can't stand it when it's not shining!
Today, Norwex consultant Tara is generously giving away Norwex’s top two products (The Enviro Cloth and The Window Cloth) to 8 winners. I highly recommend both products. They are pricey, but they will be used again and again and again.
The Enviro Cloth cleans your home with only the use of water and kills 99% bacteria. The Window Cloth shines windows, jewelry, TVs, and more with only the use of water as well. Both products are lined with silver and this gives them the antibacterial cleaning. When hung to dry, the silver is what kills the bacteria trapped in the cloths.
Want to enter this giveaway to win The Enviro Cloth and The Window Cloth? Just click on the graphic below and type in your name and email address. 8 winners will be chosen and posted on Monday. This giveaway ends Saturday, October 12, at 11:59pm, CST.

Here are some of this week’s best grocery & household deals from Amazon.com, courtesy of Terry and Mandi from Jungle Deals & Steals. Many of these prices are higher than what you'd pay by combining coupons with sales, but they may be good deals for you if you live where there aren't many stores or deals are scarce:
Kraft: The great deal is back on Kraft Blue Box Macaroni & Cheese. Get the 7.25-ounce boxes for as low as $0.56 each ($8.44 for the pack of 15).
Terry & Mandi are a busy mother-daughter team that look for ways to save money without sacrificing a lot of time, and they share their love for all things Amazon.com at Jungle Deals & Steals.

Every week in 2013, I'll be sharing a different way you can save $100 this year. If you do all of these things, you'll be able to save over $5,000 this year alone! Many of these things will likely be things you're already doing, but hopefully all of you will pick up at least a few new ideas or some inspiration from this series.
This week’s tip is so simple, but it can be extremely effective in helping you save at least $100 per year, if not more.
Before purchasing anything, ask yourself: Is this really a good deal? As I’ve often said, just because something is a great bargain, it doesn’t mean it’s a great deal for you.
Here are four questions to help you think through whether a purchase is a good deal for you:
1. Can I afford this?
If you can’t afford to buy something, it’s not a good deal — no matter how low the price. Period. You don’t need to go onto questions two, three, and four as you’ve already answered the question: don’t buy whatever it is you’re contemplating because you don’t have the money for it.
If it’s something you really want or need, wait and find a way to save extra money to pay for it. I promise it will be much more fulfilling to pay cash in full for something then to have to deal with a credit card bill that you can’t pay down the road.
2. Do I need this?
If your budget is really tight, train yourself to think in terms of need not want. This doesn’t mean, “Will this make my life easier?” Or, “Will this make me happy?” We’re thinking solely in terms of the question, “Can I live without this?” In most cases, you can probably live without the item.
This doesn’t mean you should never buy an item unless it’s an absolute necessity, but it does mean you should be aware of whether or not you can live without something when you’re contemplating whether something is a good deal.
3. Can I get a better deal elsewhere?
In many, many cases, there’s a way to find a better deal. Be it by buying used, asking for a discount, ordering online with a discount code, or waiting for a better sale.
Do your research and don’t just fall for a supposed great deal unless you know it truly is a great deal.
4. Can I use something I already have?
Instead of going out and shopping for new clothes, go through your closet and see what new outfit combinations you can come up with. Instead of buying a new appliance, see if you can fix your old one. Instead of purchasing a new couch, investigate the possibility of re-upholstering the one you already have.
See if there’s a way to make do with what you already have before rushing off to purchase that “great deal”. It’s almost always less expensive to use what you already have than to buy something new.
What questions do you ask yourself before you buy something?

If you’ve been reading my blogs since the beginning (way back before MoneySavingMom.com even existed!), you know I started out as a very black & white, judgmental blogger. I was in my early twenties and I thought I had all of life pretty well figured out.
Oh how I shudder to think of some of the downright harsh things I posted in the early days of blogging! (If I offended you by my dogmatic attitude, would you please email me so I can personally ask forgiveness?)
And it wasn’t just in my blogging. My egotistical, always-right viewpoint across the board offended people, hurt people, and ruined a lot of would-be relationships.
God had to pull the rug from under me and bring me to a place of complete brokenness before I discovered this amazing thing called grace and compassion. It’s been a journey… hard at times, but overall so beautiful. The more I walk this path, the more I learn — and the more I realize how much I don’t know!
More Acceptance
Once I stopped pointing fingers and started offering a helping hand, I realized that the people I’d once criticized weren’t anything like I thought they were. In fact, I’ve learned so much about grace, love, and life from people whom I once upon a time wouldn’t associate with.
I’m also learning that heated words condemning another person’s choices don’t usually solve anything. Loving and listening to a person with a heart full of compassion and care… now that’s the way to make an impact. It’s much more powerful that the loudest, sharpest words ever will be.
